Whenever people gather together, some rules of conduct are needed to help everyone socialize harmoniously. Some people have problems with "rules" and "authority figures," and may have had justification for these thoughts and feelings in the past; however, in ULC, we hold ourselves to a high standard of conduct where the rules simply assure that a positive club spirit is maintained. Courteous behavior is demanded.
Why have these rules? Our members entrust each other with important information relating to a very private side of their personal lives. The nature of this relationship requires maintenance of confidentiality. If you are questioned by someone outside the club and you are concerned about the appropriateness of giving them certain information, remember that you are not required to answer, and that we do not wish you to do so. Instead, as politely as possible, refer the request to Laura Goodwin. No one is permitted to take or show pictures of our members, or to offer other member's phone numbers and other contact information without approval. You may of course give out your own picture or phone number at will, but no one else's. Disciplinary actions include (1) being asked to apologize and if necessary, make amends; (2) temporary exclusion from club activities; (3) immediate expulsion from the club, in disgrace. If a member is disciplined by expulsion, they lose their right to inside information about members or ULC activities, and they are forbidden to attend private ULC events.
THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY TO GET A TASTE OF...
LA BOOT! Any of the following violations, because of their seriousness, may, at Poobah Laura Goodwin's sole discretion, result in immediate expulsion without warning, or other disciplinary action: - Willful violation of any club rule; any deliberate action that is extreme in nature and is obviously detrimental to even one member. Willful violation of security or safety rules or failure to observe safety rules. Creating or contributing to unsanitary and/or unsafe conditions, including smoking in restricted areas. Negligence or any careless action which endangers the life, safety, or peace-of-mind of another member. - Use, possession, or sale of illegal drugs in any quantity while attending ULC events or representing ULC. Medications prescribed by a physician are OK, but only if they were prescribed for you. - Unauthorized possession of illegal firearms, weapons or explosives while attending ULC events or representing ULC. - Engaging in criminal acts of violence, provoking a fight, or making threats of violence toward anyone. Fighting is forbidden, consensual rough horseplay is exempt. - Insubordination or refusing to obey instructions properly issued by Laura Goodwin or any of her designated facilitators. - Threatening, intimidating or coercing fellow members on or off the premises at any time, for any purpose. Any act of harassment, sexual, racial or other; telling sexist or racial-type jokes; uttering racist or sexist slurs. This includes aggressive cruising for a play partner: they don't have to invoke a safeword, no means no. - Engaging in an act of sabotage; willfully or with gross negligence causing the destruction or damage of our club's public image and good will, or the property or public image of fellow members or visitors in any manner including destruction or damage via the internet and web pages. - Theft of personal or club property; unauthorized possession or removal of any property, including documents, from the premises without prior permission from Laura Goodwin or her designated representative; unauthorized use of club equipment or property for personal reasons; using club facilities or equipment for profit. - Dishonesty; willful falsification or misrepresentation; Telling tall tales and spreading malicious gossip; engaging in behavior designed to create discord and lack of harmony; interfering with another member's efforts on the club's behalf; willfully discouraging people from participating in our club and/or encouraging others to do the same. - Violating the non-disclosure agreement; giving confidential or proprietary information to unauthorized persons; using inside information to the benefit of another club to the detriment of our club; breach of confidentiality of personal information. By accepting membership with ULC, you have acknowledged your acceptance of the responsibility to treat fellow members with respect. The purpose of these rules is not to restrict your rights, but rather to be certain that your rights are protected. As long as each person who joins us agrees to abide by the same rules of conduct, our organization can remain a fun and genuinely supportive club for us all. |
